Throwback Thursday – GC2016

Was the General Conference divestment push of 2016 really 7 years ago?! Remember the lantern globes and climate vigils?

A few articles for those who were there, and for those who scrolled their then-Twitter feeds for the latest news. In 2016 the focus centered on Wespath. For 2024 we renew and widen our focus. We seek a change to the Book of Discipline, screening specifically to exclude fossil fuels out from UM investments. We also seek to reach every conference and every local church, to ask, ‘what can I do?’ Each of us is called, and every one of us has the opportunity to divest, to lead with faith toward a life-giving and life-sustaining future.

And from UMNews, sadly, GC2016 rejects divestment on fossil fuels.
